Landslide - March 2002, Philippines
On 6 March 2002 a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Mindanao breaching a wall of the Mount Parker volcano and causing a portion of it to fall into Lake Maughan at the top of the volcano. A great amount of water released from the lake washed away many houses and flooded nine barangays in the South Cotabato province. 2,405 people had to be evacuated from these areas1. The tsunami, with heights estimated at 3 meters, caused damage at Kiamba, Maitum and Palimbang2.
